How to Survive Teen Pregnancy – Parenting a Child who is a Parent

Teen Pregnancy

My oldest daughter is my mini me, so like me in all ways except in one, she became a mother at 15 years old, the dreaded teen pregnancy. I had her at age 25 and even then I felt unsure of myself and very nervous thinking about taking care of someone else. At 15 years old I was no way able to take on what she did, and not only was she taking on a big change in her life, so was I. I was going to be Parenting A Child Who Is A Parent.  Continue reading “How to Survive Teen Pregnancy – Parenting a Child who is a Parent”

Am I Cheating as a Stay at Home Mom?

>

Sometimes I wonder , Am I Cheating as a Stay at Home Mom? I am truly blessed to not have to leave my home every day to go to work. 2 ½ years ago my husband and I decided that after 15 years in the medical field I was burned out and needed a change. I would come home so mentally exhausted from multi-tasking all day that I would fall asleep on the couch. Continue reading “Am I Cheating as a Stay at Home Mom?”

Step Parenting – Is There a Right or Wrong Way?

Step Parenting

My husband and I recently attended a Step parenting class through our local Kids First Program.  Which leads me to the question, Step Parenting is There a Right or Wrong Way? The class description “The Kids First Program for Step parents is designed to help people in step-families understand the normal difficulties experienced by each person in the new family, including those of their children. Participants will learn ways to ease the process so that each person will get their needs met while growing to feel comfortable in their new roles and relationships” My husband and I want to make sure we are doing everything we can to provide a comfortable environment for our children.  Continue reading “Step Parenting – Is There a Right or Wrong Way?”

How I’m Rocking Motherhood In My Blended Family

Rocking Motherhood

How I’m Rocking Motherhood in my Blended Family, How it Started

As a little girl, I always knew I wanted to be a Mother and I knew I wanted two children, two years apart. So the time comes you fall in love, you get married, you have a baby. Following my childhood created plan, as my daughter turned one, I realized that if I wanted two babies, two years apart, I was going to have to be pregnant soon. Oh, my word. There was no way I was ready for that. So, a year passed then two and three. I was entering my 30’s and didn’t want to be an “old” mother, so I broached the subject to my husband. And wouldn’t you know it, he had changed his mind, he didn’t want another. Our daughter was 5 and in school, she could get dressed, go to the bathroom, feed herself, and she slept well. He didn’t want to go back to night time wake-ups, diaper changing or daycare expenses. I fought hard that neither of us were “only children” and that our siblings meant the world to us and how could we not give our daughter that same opportunity.  I won and we had our second daughter.   Continue reading “How I’m Rocking Motherhood In My Blended Family”

Keep Calm and Go To The Dentist, But Don’t You Dare Show Me a Needle!

dentist

Sometimes as Moms we forget that we have to take care of ourselves.  We put our children and their needs as the priority and let the rest slide.  But I’ll tell you a secret, sometimes we use it as an excuse to avoid what we don’t want to do.  At what age can you expect that you will overcome your childhood phobias and fears?  Do you admit to them, or fake it for fear of embarrassment or ridicule? I went with avoidance, it was simply easier. Continue reading “Keep Calm and Go To The Dentist, But Don’t You Dare Show Me a Needle!”

Quick Thoughts Survey App – A Quick and Easy Way to Earn Money

The links in the post may contain affiliate links for which I may receive a small commission if you make a purchase.

quick thoughts

This is going to be one of my shortest posts because the Quick Thoughts survey app is so simple and easy it doesn’t take much to tell you about it.

I enjoy answering surveys.  I like providing my two cents on topics about almost anything you can think of.  I search to find survey sites that have short surveys with good payouts. I found the Quick Thoughts app and have been using it for about 2 years.  I like Quick Thoughts first and foremost because it is an app I can run on my phone.  Most survey sites are done through their site online, you can try to do it through the internet on your phone, but they aren’t formatted for the phone so they are hard to read and answer.  Quick Thoughts makes it easy for me to do surveys on the go. I can see the entire question and answer options on my phone screen without difficulty. Quick Thoughts surveys range from a few minutes to as much as 30 minutes and it is random.  If I qualify for a survey and find that it is longer than I want to do I just arrow out of it and try for another. I choose the surveys that are less than 10 minutes long.  Each survey is worth $1.00.  This is a great payout for shorter surveys.  Their threshold to cash out for a reward is after you have earned $10.00. If you start a survey and then are disqualified they give you .10 cents for trying. The payout option I chose is an Amazon gift card. Once I reach $10.00 I can select the payout option and the Amazon redemption code is given to me immediately.  There is no waiting.  I have cashed out many times on the app with no problems.  I use Amazon for so much online shopping that this reward is perfect for me and Amazon gift cards don’t expire so there is no rush to spend it.

I definitely recommend this app to anyone who enjoys doing surveys and likes to earn easy gift cards. It really is one of the simplest apps I’ve used. Download the Quick Thoughts App free in the Google Play Store today.

Receipt Hog

My blog was started because I was always telling my friends how much money I was earning doing activities online.  So many times they suggested I should teach a class, ”or something”.  The blog is a way for me to “or something”. My first few entries have been more about my Blended Family, but now it’s time to get down to business and talk about what I’ve been doing.   Earning Money with Receipt Hog is one of my favorite ways to earn money on an app…It’s a funny name I know, but it pays off with minimal effort.   Continue reading “Why I Love Earning Money with Receipt Hog!”

Rewards

So, I did it! In my previous post about Christmas Shopping, I talked about my goal to earn enough rewards to cover three of our four children’s Christmas presents.  I not only covered three children, but I also covered five other family member’s gifts.  I was also able to re-motivate the crafty side of me and made gifts for 4 family members as well.  Our out of pocket expense for Christmas this year were the lowest to date.
